The Coronavirus has started directly impacting the Indian Premier League teams. As reported earlier by InsideSport, sponsors of the teams are getting jittery by the day because of the current economic impact of Covid-19. InsideSport has learnt from its sources that the most talked about commercial deal of this season of IPL 2020 has been called off.

The Title Sponsor of Rajasthan Royals, Dubai Expo 2020 has decided to move out of the deal. The one year agreement was signed in the month of January and was hailed as one of the biggest value deal for any IPL team till date. According to the information available with InsideSport.co the deal was in the range of 25 to 27 Crore for IPL 2020.

The Dubai Expo which was slated to start from October 2020 will now be postponed to October 2021 because of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. Under the circumstances, it does not make any sense for the sponsors to continue with the sponsorship deal with Rajasthan Royals for the current year.

InsideSport team tried reaching out to the Rajasthan Royals team management and also the Dubai Expo team. None of them was available for the comment on the deal. Though the official statement in regard to the postponement of Dubai Expo 2020 has already been released which clearly indicates towards the paused relationship.

“The UAE and Expo 2020 Dubai have listened. And in the spirit of solidarity and unity, we supported the proposal to explore a one year postponement at today’s steering committee meeting,” said Reem Al Hashemy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General, Expo 2020 Dubai

InsideSport could not ascertain at this stage that if Dubai Expo will continue with the relationship with Rajasthan Royals for the next year or not. As far as the current season is concerned, RR is now without the title sponsor.
