Ashutosh Sharma’s remarkable innings for the Delhi Capitals against the Lucknow Super Giants have received some praise from the cricket legends after the DC vs LSG match in IPL 2025. Called in as an impact substitute with Delhi struggling at 65/5, Ashutosh delivered an unbeaten 66 off just 31 balls. He turned the game around with Delhi chasing a daunting target of 210, especially as the required run rate was nearing 10. After a cautious start, scoring 20 off 20 balls, Ashutosh exploded with 46 runs off the next 11 balls, leading Delhi to victory with just one wicket remaining.
Gavaskar’s high praise
Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar was full of praise for Ashutosh’s heroics. “This innings will be remembered for a long, long time—not just because of the quality of stroke play, but because of the high-pressure situation,” Gavaskar remarked on JioHotstar. He said that Ashutosh’s growing confidence, stemmed from successful performances last year and a strong domestic season. “From the very first ball, he was striking it cleanly from the middle of the bat, sending it deep—these weren’t just occasional sixes clearing the boundary, they were landing in the stands, again and again,” Gavaskar added.
