‘Intimidated & Scared’: Zainab Abbas breaks silence on alleged deportation

After Pakistan Foreign Ministry called case against Zainab Abbas unjustified and slammed India for not providing her with security, she has broken her silence in a lengthy statement.

Days after Pakistani sports presenter Zainab Abbas left India citing “security threat”, she has finally broken her silence. Saying she is “deeply hurt”, Abbas claimed that she left for Dubai as she felt intimidated and scared. On Thursday, Pakistan Foreign Ministry slammed India as Abbas left India after an Indian advocate filed an FIR against her for derogatory remarks against Hindus she made back in 2014. As an arrest loomed large, Abbas left. She was a presenter for Star Sports in ICC ODI World Cup 2023. However, she will miss the big IND vs PAK (India vs Pakistan) clash.

Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch slammed India calling the registration of the FIR was “unnecessary” .

She further added that it was India’s responsibility to provide her with security and offer Pakistan Cricket Team a favourable environment.

“The case against Zainab Abbas on unnecessary tweets is not the right action. Zainab is being dragged into an unjustified case,” Baloch said.

What is the allegation against Zainab Abbas?

Vineet Jindal claimed that the tweets which are now almost 9 years old were posted by an account named Zainablovesrk which has now been changed to Zainab’s account. Under these circumstances, Zainab Abbas who was presenting the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 has been deported from the country.

Later ICC confirmed that Zainab Abbas left India due to “personal reasons”. But BCCI and the ICC since then have maintained silence on the matter.

Abbas was a handful of Pakistanis apart from the Cricket Team to get Indian visas.
