Team India has suffered a blow ahead of the IND vs WI ODI series, starting from July 27. Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who is also part of India’s Test squad, suffered a groin injury and has been ruled out of the 2nd Test. It is not yet known how serious the injury and with the ODI series just a week away, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid will be worried about the availability of the all-rounder.

Shardul didn’t contribute much in the first Test which was dominated by spinners and batter Yashasvi Jaiswal as India registered an innings and 141-run win. The all-rounder bowled only seven overs in the first innings and took the wicket of Raymon Reifer. He didn’t get a chance to bat as India declared at 421/5 and then bowled West Indies out for 130 in the third innings before he could bowl.
Mukesh Kumar makes debut
Pacer Mukesh Kumar has replaced the injured Shardul in the Playing XI for the 2nd Test. He makes his international debut for India, becoming the 308th player to represent the country in Test cricket.
Mukesh, who represents Delhi Capitals in the IPL, has been performing consistently in domestic games. The pacer has taken 149 wickets in 39 First Class matches at an average of 21.55.
