Injury-prone Naseem Shah pulls out of The Hundred after failing to get NOC from PCB

Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah, who signed up for The Hundred side Birmingham Phoenix, has withdrawn himself from the tournament

Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah will not participate in The Hundred after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied a No-Objection Certificate for the star. The T20 league in England is all set to commence from the third week of July. As per Cricket Pakistan, Shah was denied the NOC owing to his issues with injury and fitness.

No Naseem Shah for The Hundred!

The report stated that the PCB’s decision comes in the backdrop of the efforts to protect the pacer from further injuries. This means that Naseem Shah has now pulled out of the fourth edition of the tournament and will therefore not be a part of Birmingham Phoenix.

The report further states that the PCB is unwilling to take any risks with Shah, given Pakistan’s hectic international schedule and the crucial role that the pacer will play for the side.

Naseem Shah belongs to the 125,000 euros category, which means his non-participation comes as a huge blow for both the franchise and the league.

Naseem Shah’s injury and comeback

The young speedster sustained a shoulder injury in the Asia Cup. Following which he underwent the knife and missed out in the crucial ODI World Cup. The star did make a comeback ahead of the T20 World Cup.

However, Pakistan faced an embarrassing exit in the T20 WC, not managing to go past the group stage of the tournament. Pakistan will next take on Bangladesh in a two-Test series in which Naseem is expected to play a crucial role.
