England pacer Jofra Archer has spilled the beans on his long-awaited comeback to Test cricket. The fiery pacer played his last Test match in February 2021 and has been on and off the field since owing to injuries. Despite getting his career in the red-ball format off to a good start, injuries have forced Archer to watch on from the sidelines.
Archer eyes Test return in 2025
Archer has now set a timeframe for his comeback to Tests and is aiming at the Ashes 2025-26 in Australia. The England pacer vented out his frustration, adding that he did not want to hear people criticise him over his fitness or injury-prone nature. Archer vows to use the rest of the year to get in shape at the right time for the Ashes.
“I am going to use the rest of this year to make sure that is at least a possibility,” Archer said, when discussing the next Ashes tour, as per BBC.
“I‘m tired of going on Instagram and seeing posts saying ‘he’s going to be on the physio’s bed in the next two weeks’ and stuff like that,” he added.
Archer also aims to play first-class cricket until the start of the Champions Trophy next year. He aims to use those games to be prepared workload wise for Tests. The England pacer made his comeback at the T20 World Cup after a 14-month long gap.
