IND vs ENG Test: No chance of return, Mohammed Shami ruled out of India vs England Test series

Injury crisis continues for the India Cricket Team. Ace pacer Mohammed Shami is now expected to miss the entirety of the IND vs ENG Test series. Shami was not a part of the India squad for the first 2 matches. And with the pacer still nursing an injury, it is likely that he will recover in time.

Mohammed Shami hasn’t been a part of the India team since his ODI World Cup advent. He has been nursing an ankle injury since then and is currently in London.

Reports from Cricbuzz state that the player is experiencing pain while landing. As a result he is taking injections as a part of his treatment. Under such conditions it is highly unlikely that Shami will play any part in the IND vs ENG Test series.

The most pertinent question is his availability for the Indian Premier League (IPL). With T20 World Cup on the horizon, the BCCI is in no rush to bring the player back in the team.

It is safe to say that Shami won’t be missed in the series. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj are spearheading the pace attack. Furthermore there are other options available with the likes of Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan. Shami’s injury along with the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul however is a big concern for the team in the grand scheme of things.
