Virat Kohli’s stellar performance with the bat was overshadowed by a wonderful knock by Jos Buttler as Rajasthan Royals rode to a six-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, a worrying incident took place in the second innings when Kohli was seen limping on the field.
While fielding in the 16th over, the Indian stalwart hobbled off the field, raising concerns among fans about a potential injury. The incident unfolded during a delivery by Yash Dayal to Jos Buttler. The England wicket-keeper flicked the ball towards deep mid-wicket, where both Kohli and Maxwell gave chase.
Maxwell dived in vain to save the boundary and managed to deflect the ball back into play. Kohli collected the ball and threw it back to the keeper with a strong throw. However, it was the turning motion during the throw that seemed to cause him trouble.
Kohli was seen limping slightly after the throw and was visibly uncomfortable after a few deliveries. He soon left the field and was seen in the dressing room, sparking worry among the Indian fans. The nature and severity of the injury remain unknown at this point.
RR hand RCB their 4th loss of the season
The 19th game of IPL 2024 saw RR register a fabulous six-wicket win to go on top of the points table. They have now won all four of their games thus far. RCB, on the other hand, have become the first team to endure four losses this season.
In the first innings, Kohli’s amazing knock of 113* propelled RCB to 183/3. At first, it looked like a decent total given that the track in Jaipur was a two-paced one. Yuzvendra Chahal, against his former franchise, bagged two wickets.
In reply, the hosts rode on two great innings by Buttler and Sanju Samson. The two senior pros were involved in a 148-run partnership which all but killed the game. When Rajasthan needed one run off the last over, Buttler smashed one out of the park to not only clinch two points for RR but also record his wonderful century.
