RCB fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on Patidar's health and hoping for a speedy recovery, as his presence is vital for their IPL aspirations.

A cloud of uncertainty hangs over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after their young batter, Rajat Patidar, was ruled out of the India vs England 5th Test due to an ankle injury.

BCCI gave this statement on Patidar: “Rajat Patidar got hit on his left ankle during Team India’s practice session on 6th March, 2024. He pulled up sore on the morning of the game and was not available for selection for the 5th Test.”

Injury woes hamper Rajat Patidar Chance

Rajat Patidar, who impressed with his performance in the IPL, was expected to play in Dharamshala. However, during a practice session on March 6th, he sustained a blow to his left ankle and was unable to participate in the match.

This unexpected setback has not only dashed his debut hopes but also raised concerns about his availability for the upcoming IPL 2024 season.

Devdutt Padikkal Steps in for Rajat Patidar

With Patidar out, former RCB batter Devdutt Padikkal has received the nod for his maiden Test appearance. While Padikkal’s selection provides a chance for another young talent to showcase his skills, Patidar’s absence is a significant blow for both India and his IPL franchise, RCB.

A Crucial Player for RCB

Patidar had emerged as a crucial player for RCB in IPL 2022, filling the void left by the injured Luvnith Sisodia. His consistent batting performances, including 7 half-centuries and a highest score of 96, played a vital role in the team’s success. His ability to strengthen the middle order and provide stability was a key factor in RCB’s campaign.

Uncertainty looms over IPL participation

The extent of Rajat Patidar injury and his subsequent recovery timeline remain unclear. This uncertainty casts a shadow over his participation in the upcoming IPL season, which is scheduled to begin in just over two weeks.
