CSK coach Stephen Fleming made an unfortunate revelation regarding Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana on Thursday. The ace bowler, who is the main strike bowler, will miss the key clash against RCB on Friday, in Chennai. This development has come after the pacer had missed IPL 2025 opening clash for CSK vs MI.
No Matheesha Pathirana for CSK vs RCB
Even though not much is known about nature of injury of Pathirana, Fleming mentioned that he is still recovering, as per the Indian Express. It is important to note that the 22-year-old, who has modelled his action on that of compatriot Lasith Malinga, had joined CSK ahead of IPL 2022.
Injury Rules Out Pacer Again
Despite the setback, it might not be as big a concern for MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s team as they have a full-fledged pace battery, that includes the likes of Khaleel Ahmed, Sam Curran, Mukhesh Choudhary, Anshul Kamboj, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Gurjapneet Singh.
In the last match to, Khaleel had stepped up in Pathirana’s absence, where he picked up three wickets. Nathan Ellis was the other pacer in the team in the match vs MI.
