INDW vs ENGW: After posting a mammoth 428 in the first innings, Indian spinners spun their web around the English batters to get a stronghold in the ongoing INDW vs ENGW one-off Test on Day 2. Veteran Deepti Sharma was the star for India Women as she scalped five wickets in the first innings to absolutely demolish Heather Knight and Co. during their first innings of batting.
Deepti Sharma (60 runs) and Pooja Vastrakar (4 runs) resumed the Indian innings on Day 2. However, Deepti’s departure resulted in a collapse. As a result, INDW were bundled out for 428 runs after their overnight score of 410/7.
After being bowled out for 428 runs, the home side came all guns blazing with the ball. Pacer Renuka Singh gave first blow to ENGW as Dunkley departed for 11 runs. Skipper Heather Knight (11 runs) was the second wicket to fall as Vastrakar trapped her infront of the wickets.
Nat Sciver-Brunt (59 runs) was the only notable performer for the visitors. Apart from her, Tammy Beaumont (10 runs), Danielle Nicole Wyatt (19 runs), Amy Jones (12 runs) got decent starts with the bat but none of them managed to make it a big score.
Apart from Deepti Sharma’s five-wicket haul, Sneh Rana (two wickets), Renuka Singh (one wicket) and Vastrakar (one wicket) were the wicket-takers for India.
Coming out to bat in the second innings, INDW looked positive with the bat. However, they kept on losing the wickets on regular intervals. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (44*) was the highest-scorer for India in the second innings on Day 2. Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur & Shafali Verma were also some notable performers with the bat. For England Women, Charlie Dean was pick of the bowlers with four scalps to her name.
