Indian Women’s team batter Jemimah Rodrigues continued her red-hot form and smashed her second Test fifty on Day 2 of INDW vs AUSW one-off Test at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Jemimah came in to bat after opener Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for 74 runs. The 23-year-old carried on the momentum and stitched a 113-run partnership with Richa Ghosh (52) to further extend India’s lead.
The star batter brought up her fifty in 86 balls. She was eventually dismissed by Ashleigh Gardner at 73.
Jemimah’s knock helped India to push the lead past 100.
Earlier, Pooja Vastrakar’s 4-wicket haul in the first innings helped the hosts bundled out Australia for 219.
Tahila McGrath was the top-scorer for the visitors with gritty 50.
Notably, this is the first time since 1984 that Australia Women’s team is playing a Test in India.
Meanwhile, the last time these two sides played a Test match was back in October 2021, during India’s tour of Australia. The one-off Test match was day-night fixture which ended up in a draw.
