INDW vs AUSW 3rd ODI: Phoebe Litchfield’s ton powers Australia to record total against India

India Women are given a target of 338 runs to chase down in the INDW vs AUSW 3rd ODI match.

INDW vs AUSW: Australia Women posted the highest total scored against Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. in their ODI cricket history on Tuesday (December 2). Phoebe Litchfield and Alyssa Healy were the stars with the bat as the former also completed a well-compiled century.

After deciding to bat first, Australia Women got off to a solid start as Litchfield and Healy played with authority from the word go and laid a solid foundation for the visitors. The duo notched up their respective half-centuries and made the hosts toil hard to break the opening partnership as the duo added 189 runs for the first wicket, with skipper Healy departing for 82 runs.

Ellyse Perry then joined Litchfield at number three but she departed for 16 runs. Following the wicket of Perry, Australia Women lost the next couple of wickets in a jiffy as Shreyanka Patil trapped Beth Mooney (3 off 10) and Tahlia McGrath (0 off 1) in consecutive deliveries.

On the other hand, the 20-year-old, Litchfield held her wicket and notched up her second ODI century. Litchfield’s splendid knock was halted by Deepti Sharma for 119 runs, marking the 100th wicket for Deepti in WODIs. Ashleigh Gardner and Annabel Sutherland contributed 30 and 23 runs, respectively, and Alana King’s unbeaten cameo of 14-ball 26 runs helped Australia Women post a mammoth 338/7 in 50 overs.

I think good batters around me and some nice cricket wickets to bat on, just a bit of patience as well. There are lots of scoring opportunities when there are four fielders outside the circle. It was nervous nineties for me, but good to get there in the end. We thought we could push it a bit more, the start we got we pushed on,” said Phoebe Litchfield after her marathon knock in INDW vs AUSW 3rd ODI.
