India’s World Cup final nightmare Travis Head returns Ind vs Aus 3rd T20I

After losing the opening two games of the series, Australia would be desperate to win the third T20I to stay in hunt for the series

Australian batter Travis Head returned to the Aussie lineup for the third Ind vs Aus T20I. Head, India’s World Cup final nightmare who slammed a defiant century was rested for the first two T20Is following Australia’s triumphant run in the World Cup. However, with the third T20I being a do-or-die match for Australia, the Kangaroos decided to bring back Head into the team.

Travis Head to stay

After losing the opening two games of the series, Australia would be desperate to win the third T20I to stay in hunt for the series. Travis Head, who made it to the 15-man World Cup squad despite sustaining a fractured left arm during the series against South Africa, joined the team late. As a result, he will not be a part of senior cricketers’ contingent heading for home in the midst of the 5-match T20I series. He will stay in India and likely play an important part in the remaining three T20Is.

The Australia team arrived in India two weeks before the World Cup to play an ODI series. Some of them have been in India for more than two months, and will be heading to Australia shortly. Notably, Australia has announced four replacements in the form of Josh Phillippe, Ben McDermott, Ben Dwarshuis and Chris Green.

Insidesport

With Aussies lacking that intent in the T20I series they showed in World Cup after losing the first two matches, the return of Travis Head may spur the Mathew Wade-led side to try and make a comeback in the series.

Head had been in wonderful form in the World Cup, scoring 329 runs in six matches at an average of 54.83. His strike-rate of 127.51 has helped the Aussies have fast starts in the tournament. His century in the final while chasing took the game away and beyond the reach of India. It remains to be if he can inspire the T20 team too to make a comeback from a tough spot.
