India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav ready to play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy; check when

India's T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav is ready to play his 300th T20 match. It will be for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

In what has come as a huge development, Suryakumar Yadav is ready to add the star power in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). The poster boy of India’s T20 format missed the initial leg of the domestic tournament but will now join Mumbai’s state team.

Suryakumar Yadav boosts Mumbai

According to the Times of India (TOI), Suryakumar is set to join Mumbai for their game against Services, i.e., on December 3. Currently, Mumbai are battling in their fourth SMAT 2024 match against Nagaland. “Yes, SKY is flying down to Hyderabad tomorrow to join the Mumbai team and will turn out in the side’s last two league matches against Nagaland on Tuesday, and then Andhra on Dec 5,” a source told TOI.

After 3 matches, Mumbai have two wins, leading to 8 points. They have a stacked top-order, with Prithvi Shaw, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Shreyas Iyer (c), and Ajinkya Rahane there. It would be interesting where would Suryakumar bats. In the Indian team, he sacrificed his number three slot to Tilak Varma, who pummelled two back-to-back tons against South Africa.

As for Suryakumar, he will play the matches against Services (Dec 3) and Andhra Pradesh (Dec 5).
