India’s Pooja Vastrakar makes U-turn after political social media posts against ruling party

India women's team bowler Pooja Vastrakar clarified that objectionable social media posts were made from her phone while it wasn't in her possession

Team India bowler Pooja Vastrakar makes a U-turn after posting on social media against the ruling party, BJP. Vastrakar shared a series of Instagram stories where she was seemingly criticized the party ahead of the General Elections. However, the cricketer clarified a couple of hours later that the ‘objectionable content’ was posted from her phone while it was not in ‘her possession’.

Pooja conceded 126 runs in 16 matches, taking seven wickets in WPL 2024. Pooja made her international debut in 2018 against South Africa. The right-arm pacer has featured in all three formats for India. She made her Test debut against England at Bristol in 2021.

Vastrakar is known for her ability to consistently bowl at good pace and generate movement off the pitch. She has demonstrated promising performances with the ball at both – domestic and international levels. The right-arm pacer was picked by the Mumbai Indians for INR 1.90 crore at the inaugural WPL auction and retained for the second season
