The cloud did not have a silver lining for India when they stepped out after the washed-out Day 1 in the IND vs NZ 1st Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on October 17. The Indian cricket team was bundled out for just 46 runs after coming in to bat on Day 2, having won the toss. However, the toss was the only thing that went their way, as Indian batters fell like a house of cards, one by one.
The 46 runs now mark India’s lowest total on home soil, with their previous lowest being 75 runs in 1987.
Half of India’s wickets were ducks, with Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Sarfaraz Khan returning to the pavilion without scoring.
List of India’s lowest Test total at home
India’s entire batting lineup was dismissed for just 46 runs in 31.2 overs. This performance could impact India’s ranking in the World Test Championship.
