“See, it’s not the first time that a player has gone through a rough patch. It’s only natural. We were anyway looking to give chances to some young bunch and rest the senior players. Virat will be given rest. But if he wants to play, then we will see. We will speak to him before the team selection meeting,” a member of the selection committee told InsideSport.

The selectors will speak to Virat not just on his form but also on his future plans. A bunch of BCCI is all set to advise Kohli to leave one format and focus on the other two including Test which is a priority for the former Indian captain as well.
“No, we haven’t discussed anything with Virat yet. It’s too premature. He needs the space and time to process the lean patch. Let the IPL get over, we will speak to him about a break if he wants. But in all likelihood, he will play only in the England series but it will depend on what he wants. We should give him that respect,” the selector said.
Indian Team for SA Series: Why Virat Kohli needs a break?
- It has been more than 100 innings across all competitions and formats that Kohli raised his bat for a century.
- Kohli took the advice of former India head coach Ravi Shastri and came in as opener against Rajasthan Royals. But this move also failed.
- Ravi Shastri also has suggested Kohli needs a break and pull out of IPL as he is OVERCOOKED.
Can Virat Kohli lose his place in India T20 squad? – The way things are going, he can. BCCI is desperate to land an ICC trophy and the T20 World Cup is of huge priority. With Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan in the mix, the prospect of dropping Virat Kohli isn’t ruled out.
A top BCCI Official confirmed to InsideSport that Kohli’s form is being discussed among selectors.
“He is a great servant of Indian cricket. But his form from sometime now is a huge concern now for the national selectors and BCCI”, confirmed the BCCI Official.
When prodded further, the top board official said that Selectors will deal with the matter.
“See we don’t intervene in the selection matters. Selectors have to take call on Virat and others. We can’t give our judgement to them. Obviously, they are concerned what is happening to him”, added the official.
