Indian players who might not play Champions Trophy match against New Zealand

India will play against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025. Since it is a dead rubber, some players might be rested.

India has already secured a spot in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final after winning their first two matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh. This gives them the opportunity to rest some players and keep them fresh for the crucial semi-final clash.

Indian players who might not play next match

Mohammad Shami

Mohammed Shami could also be rested for the next match to aid his recovery. The pacer has been managing a long-term injury, so a short break might be beneficial. This is a major tournament for Shami following his comeback, and he has already delivered an outstanding performance, taking five wickets in the match against Bangladesh.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja could also be rested to keep him fresh for the crucial semi-final. This match, being a dead rubber, provides an opportunity to test Washington Sundar in his place.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul might be rested to evaluate Rishabh Pant’s performance. He could also be given a break from wicketkeeping, especially since the team has had ample rest between the matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. Pant has not featured in the Playing XI so far, as KL Rahul was preferred over him. The selectors might test Pant in this match to better prepare for the Champions Trophy knockout games.
