Indian Cricket Team Review Meeting – Indian Team Performance Review Meeting: The review meeting has ended in Mumbai. While there were multiple discussions, BCCI has only officially revealed plans for injury and workload management. BCCI has shortlisted 20 players for the World Cup 2023 in October. To safeguard the players, BCCI has asked the NCA to work with IPL teams on workload management. Apart from Yo-Yo test, BCCI has made Dexa test mandatory for any player to return to Team India following an injury layoff. “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday convened the review meeting of Team India (Senior Men) in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by BCCI President Mr Roger Binny, Honorary Secretary Mr Jay Shah, Indian Captain Mr Rohit Sharma, Team India (Senior Men) Head Coach Mr Rahul Dravid, Head of Cricket (NCA) Mr VVS Laxman and Chairman of Senior Men Selection Committee Mr Chetan Sharma,” BCCI said in a statement.
The issues of player availability, workload management and fitness parameters were also discussed at length during the meeting along with the roadmap to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
Key recommendations –
- BCCI has shortlisted 20 players for the ICC World Cup 2023.
- All 20 players will be rotated for the next 35 ODIs India will play in 2023.
- For multi-format players, focus will be mainly on fitness.
- The BCCI has asked VVS Laxman-led NCA to work with IPL franchises to monitor players’ fitness, espeically for those with a history of injuries.
- “Keeping in mind the Men’s FTP and preparations for ICC CWC 2023, the NCA will work in tandem with the IPL Franchisee to monitor the targeted Indian players participating in the IPL 2023,” BCCI said.
- The Yo-Yo Test and Dexa will now be part of the selection criteria. It will be implemented in the customized roadmaps of the central pool of players.
- The emerging players will have to play a substantial domestic season to be eligible for selection to the national team.

Indian Team Performance Review Meeting: While it was a review meeting of T20 World Cup, BCCI preferred to focus on ICC World Cup 2023 in October. The Indian board has identified 20 players for the WC and they will form the core group for the 35 ODIs in 2023.
“It was a very constructive and fruitful meeting where we have reviewed the past performance and planned for the future events, including World Cup and World Test Championship (WTC). We will give preference for international cricket while making sure the IPL is not diluted,” a BCCI source, who attended the meeting, told Cricbuzz.

Who attended the meeting?
- Coach Rahul Dravid & National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman will represent the Support Staff side
- Captain Rohit Sharma will be from the team’s side. Former captain Virat Kohli was also called for the meeting but he currently is on vacations and will not be available.
- The outgoing chairman of the selection committee Chetan Sharma also has been called for the meeting.
- Besides this BCCI BCCI Big-Wigs, including president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah will attend the REVIEW Meeting on Sunday.
