Indian bowling biggest threat: AB de Villiers warns South Africa ahead of Test series

AB de Villiers picks Jasprit Bumrah as the real menace for South Africa in the two-match Test series against India later this month.

Rohit Sharma would look to do what Virat Kohli could not in 2021, winning a Test series in South Africa. While the perception is that it will be Indian batting vs Proteas pace bowling, former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has warned Temba Bavuma & Co. He believes it’s Indian bowling-led by Jasprit Bumrah that will be the biggest threat to South Africa in the two-match IND v SA Test series.

“The whole of the Indian bowling attack is the biggest threat for South Africa,” AB de Villiers told India Today in an interview.

AB de Villiers: Beware of Bumrah

Even though South African pacers dominated the wicket-taking charts, Indian pacers too dominated. Shardul Thakur bagged a seven-wicket haul while Mohammed Shami scalped 14 wickets in the IND v SA Test series.

However, AB De Villiers believes Jasprit Bumrah will be the real menace for Protean players with his angular deliveries in the IND v SA Test series.

“Jasprit Bumrah is definitely the leader of the pack. He is a guy who keeps coming at you and never stops. He has got all the skills and kept us very busy in the last Test series in South Africa. Bumrah is the perfect bowler in those conditions,” AB de Villiers said.

De Villiers also sent a message to both BCCI and Cricket South Africa. He wants the number of matches in the IND v SA Test series to be increased.

“Two is not enough. I hope they (BCCI & CSA) fix that as soon as possible,” he added.
