IND-W vs AUS-W: Deepti-Vastrakar’s century stand to extends India’s lead 157

India dominated Day 2, ending the day at 376/7 with Deepti Sharma hitting an unbeaten 70 in India Women vs Australia Women.

India Women vs Australia Women LIVE Score: India Women are on top in the one-off Test match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. At the end of Day 2, India took a 157-run lead, thanks to Deepti Sharma’s unbeaten 70 and Pooja Vastrakar’s 33. The two put up a second-highest eighth-wicket stand by an Indian pair as India closed the day at 376/7.

2nd Session: As the players take a break for tea on Day 2, the dynamics of the game have witnessed a significant shift. The session started on a promising note for India as Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues showcased a confident partnership, with runs and boundaries flowing smoothly. However, the momentum changed when Gardner, the Australian all-rounder, made a crucial impact.

The duo of Ghosh and Rodrigues had India in a commanding position, but after the drinks break, the game took a turn. Richa Ghosh, having scored a half-century, departed after attempting a big shot. Gardner capitalized on the opportunity, taking three quick wickets and putting India on the back foot.

Despite the setbacks, India maintains a lead of 57 runs, but the pitch conditions are proving challenging. The dismissal of Kaur highlighted the unpredictable nature of the pitch, with the ball keeping exceptionally low.

Looking ahead, India recognizes the importance of adding more runs to their lead, considering they will have to bat last in the match.

1st Session: At the end of the first session on Day 2, the scoreboard reflected a total of 95 runs and the fall of 2 wickets in the span of 33 overs. The session unfolded with India holding a slight advantage, yet Australia had their moments despite a few missed opportunities and misfields that allowed India to strengthen their position.

The batters, Smriti Mandhana and Sneh Rana, navigated the initial 55 minutes without significant trouble. However, Gardner’s precision and discipline led to Rana’s dismissal just before the drinks break. Shortly thereafter, Smriti’s run-out on 74 occurred due to a moment of hesitation and a last-minute decision to avoid diving, resulting in her bat being found outside the guideline.

Despite these setbacks, the partnership between Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues emerged as a saving grace for India. As the teams headed to lunch, India’s prospects seemed more promising.

On Day 1, the likes of Pooja Vastrakar and Sneh Raha did a great job with the ball to dismiss Australia for just 219 runs.

Late on opening day, coming out to bat, openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana were aggressive with the bat as the visitors had no answers for the Indian openers.

IND vs AUS Day 1 review

Australia resumed from 180/8 after tea with the tailenders showing some resistance. The ninth wicket pair of Jess Jonassen (19 off 61) and Kim Garth (28* off 71) hung around for more than 15 overs to frustrate the Indian attack adding 30 runs in 15.3 overs.

The Indian bowlers used 2 referrals against Jonassen with one going against them and the second review overturning a not out decision. Lauren Cheatle was also challenged in the same over when Jonassen was dismissed but it turned out to be another bad referral.

Garth and Cheatle added 21 runs in 7 overs with the latter being falling for just 6. The partnership helped to take Australia beyond 200 as they finished at 219. Vastrakar the pick of the bowlers finished with 4/53, Rana picked up 3/56 and Deepti Sharma who wasn’t having a good day as a fielder, chipped in with 2/45.

Insidesport

Smriti Mandhana carried her good form and remained unbeaten on 43 in 49 balls hitting 8 fours. She has Sneh Rana for company at the other end as the team ends the day with 98/1 trailing by 121 runs
