India women register highest-ever team total, score massive 603/6 in one-off Test vs South Africa

Australia previously held the record, having defeated South Africa with a total of 575/9d in 2024.

The India women’s cricket team have been playing very well lately. Following their thumping of the Proteas in the three-match ODI series, both teams faced off in a one-off Test match at Chennai’s famed MA Chidambaram Stadium. India are steamrolling their opponents in the game too, and have now set the record for the highest ever team total in a women’s Test match.

India shatter Aussies’ record

The Indian team broke a world record when they elected to bat first in the One Test. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, two Indian women, opened up. The side declared for a total of 603/6 runs in the first innings. Shafali scored 205 runs, her first three-figure total in international cricket, while Mandhana demonstrated her consistency with 149 runs.
