Whether it’s about batting or with the shiny white ball, India came out on top against the Chevrons in the 5th T20I game. In the last encounter, India had already clinched the series, but they delivered the final nail in the coffin in this final game.
Captain Shubman Gill and his team were sent in to bat first by Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza. Despite a few initial hiccups, where the team lost three wickets for under 50 runs, the determined innings from Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube 26 of 12 balls in the death overs, led India to a total of 167 runs.
When it came to bowling, their sudden strikes created havoc among the Zimbabwe batters, who failed to cross the target. On one hand, we saw Sanju Samson patiently play a composed innings of 58 runs, while on the other, the fiery bowlers took the game away from Zimbabwe as the team was bowled out for 125 runs. India registered a 42-run win over the Chevrons.
IND vs ZIM: Who scored 10/10?
Shubman Gill (3/10)
Starting with the skipper Shubman Gill, who failed to emulate his last match’s innings, scoring just 13 runs in 14 balls. Consistency has been lacking for Shubman Gill over the past few months. There are high expectations from him, but his inconsistent performances are not a good sign for India. Although he led the team well and showed maturity throughout the series, playing a few good innings that cannot be overlooked.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (5/10)
Looking at one more opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal, he also failed to replicate the impressive 93-run innings he played previously. The team has shown faith in this player and consistently gave him opportunities whenever there was a requirement, and rightly so, he has often grabbed the chance. However, in this game, as mentioned, he failed to get the best out of the Zimbabwe bowlers and made just 12 runs before getting bowled out by Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza.
Riyan Parag (6/10)
After India received three shocks one after another, Riyan Parag, along with Sanju Samson, helped the team regain momentum. Although Parag failed to capitalize on his personal growth, scoring 22 runs off 24 balls, which included one six, he had shown promise in the past but has consistently struggled to convert those starts into big scores. This series came as a watershed moment for Parag, getting valuable lessons and insights into how international cricket works.
Shivam Dube (7/10)
Last time with the ball, and this time with the bat, Shivam Dube continues to impress with his all-round abilities. Dube came to bat when acceleration was needed, as India was on the verge of crossing 150 runs. Thanks to his 26 runs off just 13 balls, India reached a total of 167. Although he unfortunately got run out, he looked like a dominant batter in today’s game, hitting two fours and two sixes, with an impressive strike rate of 212.
Mukesh Kumar(10/10)
Last but not least, India has added another pacer to their lineup, as Mukesh Kumar has consistently performed well throughout this series and in this match as well. He took an early wicket from Zimbabwe, breaking their batting heroes from Wesley Madhevere to Brian Bennett. He cleaned up everyone and achieved his career-best figures of 4/22 in T20Is, deserving a score of 10/10 for this game.
