India vs Sri Lanka white-ball tour schedule out, 1st T20I to be played on July 27

Just a couple of weeks after the India vs Zimbabwe series, the Men in Blue will travel to Sri Lanka for a white-ball series.

The Indian cricket team is set for another challenge as they head to Sri Lanka for a white-ball series in late July. This tour, featuring three T20 Internationals and three ODIs, comes after a potentially draining IPL 2024 and the T20 World Cup.

The series kicks off on July 27th with the first T20I, followed by two more on the 28th and 30th. The ODI leg starts on August 2nd, with the remaining matches scheduled for the 4th and 7th. All matches will be telecast live on Sony Sports Network and streamed on SonyLiv here in India.

Will Rohit & Kohli play vs SL?

While fans eagerly await the India-Sri Lanka clash, a question mark hangs over the participation of veteran players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The packed schedule, encompassing the IPL and the World Cup, could lead these stalwarts to take a well-deserved break. The two, alongside the likes of Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja are also not featuring in the T20Is against Zimbabwe.

Shubman Gill, showcasing his leadership potential, is captaining a young Indian team in a prior five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. All eyes will on another man in Gautam Gambhir, who will usher the team in a new era under his head coach role. He was recently appointed as the successor to Rahul Dravid.

This Sri Lanka series could see a similar approach, with the selectors opting to rest senior players and blood in fresh talent. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will be looking to capitalize on any potential fatigue within the Indian team. They had a forgettable T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, losing out on a Super Eight spot. Their T20I leader Wanindu Hasaranga also stepped down as skipper in the lead up to the series.
