The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could be in a tough spot regarding IPL 2024 Schedule. With India Cricket Team beginning T20 World Cup 2024 campaign on June 4, BCCI has to conduct IPL 2024 Final by May 27 as ICC demands a minimum of seven-day gap. India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 clash is likely on June 9 in New York. As per reports, India will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5.
However, with India General Elections in April-May, BCCI will be in a difficult spot regarding the IPL schedule. BCCI has a 58-day window to conclude the tournament.
BCCI is looking to start IPL 2024 on March 22. And if they stick to that day, the final could be on May 19. However, if there is any change in the start date due to elections, the Indian board will be under pressure.
IPL 2024 will be sandwiched between India vs England Test series and T20 World Cup 2024.
IND vs ENG Test series ends on March 11 and the players will only get about 10 days of rest before playing in an high-intensity IPL 2024. And BCCI has to find a minimum of 10-day gap between IPL and T20 WC to let players recover.
With no bilateral T20I series after IND vs AFG, IPL 2024 is the final trial to select squad. And the selectors can’t take any chances in regards to injuries. BCCI Selection Committee members are in South Africa to speak to Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to shortlist 25-30 players for the mega event in West Indies and USA.
