Ali has made a big statement and opened up on his training methods, stating smashing sixes in training helps him in replicating that in a match.
“I bat on a position where an average of over 10 is required. For that, you need to hit big shots and that requires a lot of practice,” cricketpakistan.com quoted Ali as saying.
Ali is expected to play the finisher’s role in the Asia Cup for Pakistan. “I usually hit 100-150 sixes daily so that I can hit 4 to 5 in the match,”
He normally comes into bat when the team are in need of quick runs, especially at the end. So his training methodology makes sense when he trains himself to attack the bowlers and deal in sixes.

It is for the same reason that Ali has not been able to score a single half-century. His highest score remains 41 not out. In his 39-match T20 career, he has only faced 325 balls, showcasing how he is being used by Pakistan at the back end of his innings. He has amassed 435 runs at a strike rate of 133.84.
With India possessing some quality bowlers like Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar among others, it will be interesting to see if he can succeed. Pakistan will expect him to play a big role as his quickfire 30-40 could change the course of the game.
