India vs Pakistan on 14th October, ICC makes changes to release revised World Cup Fixture

ICC has released revised schedule for World Cup 2023 which sees India vs Pakistan match taking place on 14th October at Ahmedabad

Putting an end to all the drama and confusion that has arisen, the ICC has released the rescheduled match fixtures for the ICC World Cup 2023. The much anticipated India vs Pakistan match originally slated to be held on 15th October has been preponed to 14th October. The change has been largely made due to the Hindu festival of Navaratri starting on 15th October.

Safety became a main concern and therefore, as a result, the game was preponed to the previous day, i.e 14th October with no changes in the venue. With the change in a solitary game, other matches too had to be rescheduled and adjusted to fit the calendar.

The clash between India and Pakistan was originally slated to take place in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 15 October, but this has been moved a day earlier and will now be held at the same venue on Saturday, 14 October. As a result, England’s fixture against Afghanistan in Delhi will be moved from Saturday, 14 October and will now be played 24 hours later on Sunday, 15 October.

Pakistan’s contest against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad has moved from Thursday, 12 October to now being played on Tuesday, 10 October and Australia’s big match against South Africa in Lucknow moved back 24 hours and will now be played on Thursday, 12 October instead of Friday, 13 October.

Revised WC Schedule finally out, IND vs PAK on Oct 14, 9 matches rescheduled

Another change has been made towards the end of the group stage schedule. There were security concerns yet again in Kolkata on 12th November when Pakistan was slated to face England. The match coincided with the day of Hindu festival – Kali Puja and thus subsequently the match got preponed to 11th November.

Meanwhile, India’s last league game against the Netherlands has now been shifted from 11 to 12 November, a day-night clash to be played in Bengaluru.

The World Cup commences on Thursday, 5 October when 2019 finalists England and New Zealand clash at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with the event culminating in the final at the same venue on Sunday, 19 November.
