“An all-rounder always makes a massive difference to a team. Hardik not bowling will not impact India’s chances, but it will make a difference in terms of Kohli’s options. If an all-rounder is available for both (batting and bowling), it enhances the captain’s ability to rotate bowlers and gives him the extra option to fall back on,” Kapil Dev told Sportskeeda.

India vs Pakistan LIVE: He also spoke about the importance of bowling a couple of overs by taking the examples of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar.

“When Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar were playing, they could have bowled 2 out of 4 overs, the captain had an extra person to consider if one of the bowlers got hit and it made his job easier. If Hardik can bowl even 2 overs, it gives India that much more balance,” he added.

India vs Pakistan LIVE: Kapil Dev also spoke about the importance of bowling in the nets which would build confidence to bowl in the match.

“If you are able to bowl 40-50 balls in the nets, it builds up the confidence in any player to bowl in a match, otherwise it is that much more difficult to be fully committed. If you don’t practice in the nets, you won’t have confidence in your bowling. Any type of injury hampers a player’s ability,” he further stated.

  • Hardik Pandya didn’t bowl in UAE leg of IPL 2021.
  • He is out of form with bat and ball. He managed just 75 runs in 5 inns in IPL and didn’t bowl. Earlier, he took just 3 wickets in 3 ODIs and a T20I against Sri Lanka.
  • If he performs, Pandya could be the biggest matchwinner for India in T20 World Cup.

‘Hardik Pandya won’t bowl this World Cup’ confirms BCCI official

Earlier this week, a BCCI official confirmed that Hardik Pandya won’t bowl in T20 World Cup for India.

“It’s clear, he (Hardik Pandya) can’t bowl. He will purely play as a batsman in the World Cup. By the later stages of the World Cup he may recover & can bowl but for now it won’t be possible. We feel sorry for Axar Patel but for the sake of team balance he had to make way for Shardul”, confirmed one of the top BCCI official.
