India vs England: Suryakumar Yadav & Prithvi Shaw to leave for UK on August 3- After a few days of anxious wait, Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw are set to leave for the UK on August 3 after testing negative for COVID-19 three times in Colombo. The duo was called up to join Virat Kohli & Co in the UK after Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar suffered series ending injuries. The two were in isolation as close contacts of Krunal Pandya who tested positive for the virus.
InsideSport earlier reported that Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw will have to produce three negative tests before they will be eligible as per COVID-19 guidelines in Sri Lanka as well as the UK. The two have tested negative in the third and latest RT-PCR test and are thus eligible to come out of isolation.
India vs England: “They are waiting for their visas. Because of the two holidays (Saturday and Sunday), they could not receive the same through the United Kingdom Embassy office in Sri Lanka. The travel agent has been following up the matter and it is hoped they would leave within 24 hours to join Team India in England,” a source told Deccan Chronicle.
However, Gowtham, Krunal and Yuzvendra Chahal are yet to test negative and will continue to stay in isolation. The three apart from the cricketers in isolation including Surya and Prithvi are currently staying in Mount Lavinia hotel. They are under the supervision of Nawaloka Hospital. To prevent further transmission of cases, they were
India vs England: They are staying in a hotel (Mount Lavinia) where the Covid unit is being managed and handled by Nawaloka Hospital and irrespective of days they spend in Sri Lanka, one PCR negative test for each of them will be eligible to return to India.
“They are stationed in separate rooms and unlike in India where the Covid patients can mingle among themselves, Sri Lankan law does not permit,” a source told DC.
India vs England: BCCI’s plans to send Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw to England as soon as possible had taken a major hit after Krunal Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal and Krishnappa Gowtham tested positive in Colombo. A BCCI official had confirmed to InsideSport that Suryakumar and Shaw will only be eligible to travel to England only after testing negative 3 consecutive times.
- It is worth noting that, both Shaw & Surya have already been tested thrice and they are negative.
- The third and final negative cleared their way for departure for UK.
- Suryakumar & Prithvi Shaw are currently waiting for visa in Colombo and will leave on Tuesday.
- Both will have to spend 10 days in quarantine in the UK and will have to spend further produce three negative RT-PCR tests to be elogible to join Virat Kohli & Co’s bio-bubble.
- The quarantine period effectively rules them out of the first two Tests.

The duo was named replacements after Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar suffered series-ending injuries. Now if they test positive on Saturday, they certainly will get replaced.
India vs England: (IND vs ENG): When asked if the BCCI is already lining up replacements, the official said, “It is the selectors’ job and there are always backup plans, especially now during Covid.”
“We can’t say anything with certainty at this stage. We have to observe them for next couple of days to decide – whether to announce new replacements or not,” another official had told InsideSport.co on Thursday.
