Yashasvi Jaiswal becomes only 4th Indian lefty to smash 200

He's also only the fourth Indian left-hander to achieve this feat, joining an elite club that includes Sourav Ganguly, Vinod Kambli, and Gautam Gambhir.

In a stunning display of skill and determination, Yashasvi Jaiswal etched his name in the records book of Indian cricket by smashing a remarkable double century (209) against England on Day 2 of the second Test. The left-handed batsman’s achievement places him as the third youngest Indian and the fourth left-hander for the country to achieve this milestone.

Jaiswal’s double century, achieved at the age of 22 years and 36 days, ranks him just behind legends Sunil Gavaskar and Vinod Kambli in the list of youngest Indians to reach this landmark. Kambli, the record-holder, achieved the feat twice in his golden year of 1993.

His knock wasn’t just about survival; it was about seizing the initiative. He unleashed his attacking instincts when the opportunity arose, collecting boundaries with powerful pulls and drives. His hundred arrived in style, a six off Shoaib Bashir marking the occasion. But Jaiswal didn’t stop there. He accelerated after the landmark, reaching his double hundred with the same domineering spirit.

Jaiswal’s innings was one of grit, determination, and unwavering focus. The pitch wasn’t easy, and England’s young spinners posed a persistent challenge. Yet, Yashasvi Jaiswalstood tall, weathering every storm. While his partners fell cheaply, he built partnerships, absorbed pressure, and never let the scoring rate dip.

He’s also only the fourth Indian left-hander to achieve this feat, joining an elite club that includes Sourav Ganguly, Vinod Kambli, and Gautam Gambhir.

More importantly, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock has put India in a commanding position in the Test. His 209 forms the backbone of a formidable total of 396, giving the bowlers a platform to put England under pressure. This innings has not only revived India’s hopes in the series but also announced the arrival of a special talent on the international stage.
