India vs England 1st Test: Jonny Bairstow receives 75th Test cap from Graham Thorpe – England cricket team’s wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow received his 75th Test cap from England’s batting coach Graham Thorpe on Thursday on Day 2 of the first Test against India here at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Thursday. Bairstow made his Test debut in 2012 against West Indies at Lord’s.

England Cricket Board’s official Twitter handle posted a video of Jonny Bairstow receiving the cap from Graham Thorpe. “Your fight, your character and your passion and how proud you are of playing for your county – Watch the moment @jbairstow21 received his 75 Test cap,” ECB wrote in the caption.
Bairstow, who plays for England in all three formats of the game, has scored 4197 runs in 131 Test innings with the help of 21 fifties and six centuries. He is averaging 34.12 in the longest format of the game.
Earlier on Day 1, Jonny Bairstow was dismissed by Mohammed Shami after taking a spot on DRS. Umpire refused Shami’s appeal but he along with Shardul Thakur convinced India captain Virat Kohli to take the review and in the end Bairstow was sent back.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah scalped four while Mohammed Shami took three as England Cricket Team was bundled out for 183 in the first innings on Day 1 of the first Test here at Trent Bridge, Nottingham on Wednesday. At stumps, India’s score reads 21/0 and the visitors are currently trailing by 162 runs. For Virat Kohli’s side, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul are currently unbeaten on 9 and 9 respectively.
