Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 60 off 41 deliveries before retiring to give some match practice time to young Ishan Kishan, and others. Chasing 153, India was off to a flying start as KL Rahul (39 off 31) and R Sharma added 68 runs for the opening wicket. KL Rahul was dismissed in the tenth over by Ashton Agar while Sharma continued his red-hot form and slammed a 36-ball fifty.

Earlier, opting to bat Australia had a shaky start as they were reduced to 11/3 with David Warner, Aaron Finch, and Mitch Marsh going back cheaply. Steve Smith (57) and G Maxwell (37) resurrected Australia’s innings before Marcus Stoinis (41* off 25) played a handy cameo and helped his side post 152/5. R Ashwin picked up two wickets, while R Jadeja, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, and R Chahar returned with one wicket each.
