As the Indian women’s cricket team beat Australia in the one-off Test at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, they created history of sorts, as they recorded their first-ever win against the opposition, in their 46-year rivalry. It wouldn’t be wrong to say, that is perhaps their biggest win ever in Tests, against the best side in the world.
Along the way, Team India has made a few records as well. Many would be surprised to know, that India’s first win against Australia, the men’s team, had also come on December 24, albeit in 1959, 64 years back, in Kanpur. Strangely enough, both teams managed to put up dominating performances.

One record that the women’s team created here, needs to be talked about. Till the team has played 40 Tests, winning seven, and losing six, with 27 draws. That brings their winning % to 17.50, which is better than that of the Indian men’s cricket team, at the same stage.
After 40 Tests, the Indian men’s team had only three wins to show, with 17 lost, and 20 drawn. Their winning % stood at a paltry 7.50%.
