The India vs Afghanistan T20I series starts on January 11, and the home team is leaving no stone unturned to address all the issues in the squad, in their last three matches prior to the T20 World Cup 2024. The Rohit Sharma-led team had a long run at the nets on Wednesday, especially opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been in good touch in the limited-overs formats.
During the press conference, India coach Rahul Dravid confirmed that the left-hander will open the innings along with skipper Rohit Sharma, in the Afghanistan series. That also signals, that Yashasvi is the first in line to be selected for the role at the T20 World Cup in June.
Meanwhile, Dravid also spoke about the exclusion of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from the squad, and clarified, that the duo were not picked, since they wanted rest, and would be considered again after performances in the domestic circuit.
