India vs Afghanistan: ‘Sanju Samson can be our X-factor in the T20 World Cup’

India vs Afghanistan: In the 24 T20Is, Sanju Samson has scored 374 runs, at an average close to 20.

Sanju Samson is always a talking point before any limited-over series, as he is once again, for the India vs Afghanistan T20I series. Former india all-rounder Suresh Raina said that the wicket-keeper batsman should make the most of it, and if he manages to do so, he could be the X-factor in the T20 World Cup 2024 team.

He has been in fine form as well, and is on the back of a ton as well, that he scored against South Africa in the ODI series recently. “Sanju has made a wonderful hundred against South Africa recently. He is definitely captain material as his mind is ticking all the time while on the field. We have some very good options for the wicketkeeper-batter role — KL Rahul, Jitesh Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Pant whenever he comes back after getting fit,” Raina told Sports18.

Raina added, that good performances against Afghanistan will keep the selectors interested. ”I prefer to have Sanju in the middle-order because he has a lot of shots. He plays those pick-up shots against pacers from the length. Hopefully, he performs well in the IPL too before the selectors sit down to select the team for the T20 World Cup,” Raina said.

“So, it is a good chance for Sanju against Afghanistan, and he can be our X-Factor in the World Cup,” he added.
