Dinesh Karthik turned out for the IDream Tirrupur Tamizhans on Saturday, with Ravichandran Ashwin featuring for the Dindigul Dragons later in the day. Karthik arrived in Tamil Nadu after the T20I series against England ended earlier this week and will feature in another game. In his first game for the Tamizhans, the veteran wicket-keeper scored a 16-ball 21.
The 36-year-old veteran has earned a well-deserved recall to the Indian side and has carved out a role as a finisher in the team. Since returning for the series against South Africa, DK has chipped in with valuable cameos down the order alongside Hardik Pandya.
Karthik had a stellar IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore winning the super striker of the year award. Time and again, the 36-year-old made an impression down the order, scoring 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33. Karthik has been named in the squad for the West Indies series and is getting some match practice before travelling to the Caribbean.
Alongside Karthik, Ashwin has also taken the same route after earning a surprise recall to the Indian T20 team for the West Indies tour. The veteran off-spinner last played a T20I back against New Zealand last year having featured in the T20 World Cup in UAE.
