India vs Sri Lanka – Will positive tests in England squad impact India vs Sri Lanka series? Just 48 hours before the 1st ODI vs Pakistan – 7 squad members of England team have been tested Covid-19 positive resulting in ECB announcing new 18 member squad for the series. Just 2 days ago, same England team was playing Sri Lanka in the ODI series raising a big question that will the positive tests in England camp now impact the India vs Sri Lanka series?

The host board Sri Lanka Cricket has got little concerned with the episode and has declared that once Kusal Perera led team arrive in Colombo they will be immediately quarantined.

“The Sri Lankan team will reach Colombo today itself and enter another bubble after one round of RT PCR test. Even after completion of tour on Sunday, the team had an RT PCR test in UK before boarding the flight,” a Sri Lanka Cricket official told PTI.

“Since the India series is starting in a week no one is going home.

It’s bubble to bubble transfer. However if anyone tests positive, usual protocol of testing and isolation would follow,” he added.

Not only SLC, alarm bells have also started ringing in BCCI. InsideSport.co spoke to the board’s treasurer Arun Dhumal who declared that team management has been communicated to be little extra cautious because of the bio-bubble breach in England camp.

“Yes, we are aware of the situation. But our message to the team is the same as it was before. Before their departure, we asked them to take extra precautions regarding COVID. The team in Sri Lanka is following all the necessary protocols. But we are obviously monitoring the situation regarding the England team incident. If there is any development in the Sri Lanka team that went to the UK, we will take a call accordingly.”

India vs Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka cricketers to join bio-bubble immediately after return from UK as England players test COVID-19 positive: India and Sri Lanka are due to square off in an ODI and T20 series starting July 13.

Sri Lankan cricketers will head straight into a bio-bubble ahead of their limited-overs series against India after landing back from England, where the players they competed against have been quarantined following a COVID-19 outbreak in the team.

This was after three England players and four members of the support staff tested positive for the virus after the last ODI against Sri Lanka in Bristol on Sunday.

The squad has been placed in isolation from that day onwards, the England and Wales Cricket Board said in a statement.
