India Tour of Sri Lanka: Dasun Shanaka to lead depleted Sri Lanka against Shikhar Dhawan’s India – Less than 48 hours before the 1st ODI at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) finally announced the squad on Friday. Dasun Shanaka will lead the side while Dhananjaya De Silva will be his deputy. Captain on the tour of England and Bangladesh, Kusal Perera missed out due to injury. The first ODI will be played on the 18th of July 2021.
India tour of Sri Lanka: Big blow, Sri Lanka’s batting mainstay Kusal Perera all set to miss ODI series vs India: Sri Lankan skipper for two series, Kusal Perera, has suffered a shoulder injury which has put his participation in the upcoming white-ball series against India at stake. India and Sri Lanka are slated to play the first ODI against each other on July 18. Apart from Perera, Binura Fernando will also be unavailable for the ODI series due to a sprained ankle.
As per the report published in DailyFT, ‘Perera, it is learnt, picked up the injury during the ODI series in England and played with it due to the unavailability of a proper replacement in the squad.’
Shikhar Dhawan led Team India reached Sri Lanka on June 28 with the series scheduled to be played from July 13. But after two members of Sri Lanka’s support staff tested positive for COVID-19, the entire squad was isolated and the series was postponed by five days. Instead of July 13, now the series will be played from July 18.
