India Tour of South-Africa – India vs South-Africa: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has already lost 4 T20 matches of the lucrative India series. Amid the threat of Omicron, the India team has agreed to tour – but the local government is yet to give permission for the fans in the stadium. That means CSA is set to lose even Ticket sales revenues for the series. Acting chief executive officer of Cricket South Africa Pholetsi Moseki says the governing body are still hopeful of welcoming some fans back in the upcoming series against India.

“The issue of fans is something that’s on our agenda and once we’re done with the meeting, we’ll make a call from there,” Moseki said this week.

“There are a few people we need to speak to before we can make an announcement but we hope we’ll be able to make an announcement by the end of the day.”

India vs South Africa – Series in Empty Stadium: Prior to the recent developments, there was an understanding in place that would allow CSA to accommodate up to 2,000 per day during the series – but post Omicron threat even these many can’t attend the matches.

CSA is hoping that government will relent & at least allow vaccinated fans to the stadiums.

Indian test team led by Virat Kohli is expected to arrive in South Africa on 17th Dec & will play the 1st test match at Super Sport Park – Centurion in Boxing Day Test.

SOUTH AFRICA VS INDIA TEST SCHEDULE

First Test: 26-30 December – SuperSport Park, Centurion

Second Test: 3-7 January – Wanderers, Johannesburg

Third Test: 11-15 January – Newlands, Cape Town

India’s squad for Tests against South Africa announced

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked an 18-member squad for the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa starting from 26th December 2021. The Test series will form a part of the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.

India’s Test squad: Virat Kohli (Captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (wk), Wriddhiman Saha (wk), R Ashwin, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mohd. Shami, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Md. Siraj.

Standby Players: Navdeep Saini, Saurabh Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Arzan Nagwaswalla.

The following players were not available for selection due to injuries and are currently undergoing rehabilitation: Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, Rahul Chahar.
