India Tour of England: India vs England Live: Virat Kohli & Co have chosen to ignore BCCI’s advice once again. With rescheduled 5th Test set to begin on July 1, BCCI gave strict warning to players to follow the medical team’s advice. The guidelines included not visiting public places, stay indoors unless absolutely needed and avoiding coming in contact with fans. This was done to avoid any further Covid-19 cases in Indian camp. It should be noted that India refused to play the 5th Test after a Covid outbreak ahead of Manchester Test.

However, as it seems, the advice has not been clear to the players. They mingled with fans, took selfies and were spotted in a Birmingham restaurant. Before that, despite advice, Rishabh Pant decided to sign autographs and click pictures with fans during Leicestershire warm-up match.

What did BCCI say?: “It was very irresponsible for the team. They were informed of the risks and were advised not to roam around in public places without masks. But we see Rohit, Virat, Rishabh and almost everyone ignoring all the advice. It was bound to happen (Rohit testing positive),” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport on Sunday.

India Tour of England: BCCI very UNHAPPY with Rohit Sharma & Co, official says ‘Very irresponsible, they ignored all advice’

Though England has removed the norms of including the bio-bubble, it is expected that the players take proper safety measures when they are out on a tour. Last week, veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin missed his flight to England after testing positive for Covid. Ahead of this trip, Virat Kohli too contracted covid but travelled with the squad after having recovered.

“The board has scolded some players over their habit of hanging out in public. It also seems some players went in public and clicked pictures with fans, which could be dangerous. We had told them to stay careful but they still often roamed around in the city which is not required, so we asked them again to take precautions,” a source from BCCI told ANI on Monday.

  • Despite repeated advice from BCCI and the Medical team, Team India paid no heed and went out to have dinner at a restaurant in Birmingham.
  • With the fifth test scheduled to commence on 1st July and the rising number of Covid cases, it has been irresponsible for the India team to make public appearances.
  • Team skipper Rohit Sharma tested Positive for Covid and is highly unlikely to recover for the fifth test. Mayank Agarwal has been brought on as the opener replacement in the squad.
  • Ahead of the trip, Ravi Ashwin missed his flight to England, testing positive for Covid. Former Indian team captain Virat Kohli too contracted Covid but recovered ahead of the team’s travel.
  • The BCCI has been very upset with the Indian team for failing to adhere to the safety protocols.
