Cheteshwar Pujara takes fielding sessions–
Cheteshwar Pujara was seen taking fielding lessons with coach Vikram Rathour as India prepare for their warm-up match against Leicestershire. The Indian team will play the county side on June 24 in a four-day contest. As slip catching has been poor from India in the last few months, the focus was on improving on that aspect.
India will also not have Ajinkya Rahane at the slip and only Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara will be two experienced fielders in that fielding area.
Only player to play red-ball format in last three months-
- As things stand, Cheteshwar Pujara is the only player from the present contingent of players to play red-ball cricket.
- He was part of the Sussex side for the course of the IPL 2022 season, while the rest of the players were busy playing in the T20 format.
- The veteran star Pujara was dropped for Sri Lanka Test series on home turf after performing poorly against New Zealand and South Africa at the turn of the year.
- However, with impressive performances for Sussex, saw him return back to the Indian team.

India to improve on poor fielding performance-
- India had a poor field performance index as they dropped too many catches in their last tour.
- As was in the slip area where India had the issues with Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli and Pujara operating during the previous stint.
- While Rahane is not part of the squad this time, the team will be eager not to repeat the mistakes as they look for flawless performances.
The warm-up match will see a number of stars return to back to the Test format as majority of the players were playing limited-overs cricket in IPL.
The Indian team will play Leicestershire on Friday. Rohit Sharma will be in-charge of his first overseas Test series since appointed as the Test captain.
