India Tour of England: KL Rahul Injury Update – What comes as a big relief for Team India is vice-captain KL Rahul is all set for England tour. He was ruled out of the South Africa series with a groin injury and panic set in on whether he will be fit for England tour. Rahul joined the NCA rehab centre and is currently “recovering well” and will leave for England on June 19 with Rahul Dravid and others. Follow IND vs ENG Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

“He is recovering well. His injury is not as bad as it seemed. He has started rehabilitation at the NCA and as per the physios, he can be fit within two weeks before the warm-up match,” a member of the selection committee told InsideSport.

While initially, it was planned that KL Rahul will leave with the first batch along with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, there is a change. He will continue to recover in Bengaluru and will leave with the second batch on June 19.

“The plan was to send him to England early with the first batch. But as he is recovering well and already in Bangalore, he will leave with the rest of the squad on June 19,” the source added.

KL Rahul injury Timeline:

  • November 2021 – Thigh Strain: KL Rahul was ruled out of the two-match Test series against New Zealand in November due to a left thigh strain.
  • February 2021 – Hamstring: KL Rahul missed the T20 series against West Indies after suffering a left hamstring injury.
  • February 2021 – Hamstring: He failed to recover in time and missed the T20 against Sri Lanka.
  • March 2021 – Hamstring: The hamstring injury also ruled him out of the Test series against Sri Lanka.
  • January 2021 – Wrist: KL Rahul missed the Test series in Australia after suffering a wrist injury during practice.

However, there will be another batch of players leaving for Ireland and England. A separate white-ball squad will be announced for Ireland and England tour on by June 20 and the players will leave on June 22 for Ireland.

After playing two T20s against Ireland on June 26 and 28, some of them will join the squad in England for three T20Is and as many ODIs. The rest will return to India. A selection meeting will be held after the South Africa series.
