India Tour of England: Virat Kohli & Co go through interesting drill in Durham – How do you make a cricket side better in fielding that is already one of the best in the department? The short answer is Divide & Conquer. If the analogy doesn’t seem to fit right, watch what India’s fielding coach R Sridhar put Virat Kohli & Co through in Durham ahead of the 1st Test against England.

A fielding drill may seem monotonous but R Sridhar knows how to make it interesting. Divide the team in two and let them compete against each other with each team earning points for perfect throw — in this case, catch from one hand and throw from the other — and let them conquer the world in the fielding department.

India tour of England: R Sridhar divided the squad into two parts with Rishabh Pant and Shardul Thakur making the picks. In the drill, the players had to catch the ball with either of their hands and throw it with the other while making seven passes before placing it between the cones. Watch the video here:

India tour of England: Through the drill, the Ravi Shastri-coached side would be able to speed up their throws and will increase the chances of a run-out. The likes of Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja amongst others are already known as two of the best fielders in the world with their supreme fitness giving a tough fight to others on the field.

Meanwhile, India have had some good news. Rishabh Pant has joined up with the team after recovering from COVID-19. Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, who struggled with a hamstring niggle is also back and was seen batting in the nets. Wriddhiman Saha, Abhimanyu Easwaran and coach Bharat Arun also joined up with the team after their periods of isolation.

India tour of England: With Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan ruled out of the series, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav were called up as replacements to the squad. However, those plans were hit with a major blow as Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19 while in the bio-bubble for the tour of Sri Lanka. Shaw and Yadav are part of the bubble and it remains to be seen what measures BCCI will take following the latest development.
