India Tour of England – Suryakumar & Prithvi Shaw’s trip to England? BCCI’s plans to send Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw as soon as possible to England had taken a major hit after 3 Indian players tested positive in Colombo. A BCCI official has confirmed to InsideSport that Suryakumar and Shaw will only be eligible to travel to England only after testing negative 3 consecutive times.

  • It is worth noting that, both Shaw & Surya have alreayd been tested twice and they fortunately are negative.
  • The third and final test will be conducted on Saturday morning.
  • If once again they test negative – they will be allowed to travel to London or otherwise they will have to stay back in Colombo itself.

“Can’t comment on whether they will be leaving tomorrow to UK or not. But what I can tell you is that they are once again getting tested on Saturday morning. They will be allowed to fly only subject to testing negative”, declared one of the top BCCI official to InsideSport.co

First Krunal Pandya and now Yuzvendra Chahal and K Gowtham have also tested positive in the team and are staying in isolation in Colombo. The rest of the team has already returned to India barring the positive cricketers & SuryaKumar Yadav & Prithvi Shaw.

“We are monitoring the situation and at this point, we do not have much to say. The plan was to send them immediately after the Sri Lanka series so that they could join the team for the 2nd Test. But now, we have to see and hope that they don’t test positive. If they test positive, we will not be left with any other option than drop them and probably announce replacements,” the official told InsideSport.

If Saturday’s RTPCR Test comes negative for both the players, they according to the sources will fly to England either on 31st night or 1st August. Though UK authorities have decided to give the entry to both the players in lieu of specially-created rule for sportspersons – the duo will be staying in quaratine for next 10 days in London.

The isolation period effectively rules them out of the first few Tests.

India Tour of England – Will Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav be replaced in case they test positive?

The duo was named replacements after Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar suffered series-ending injuries. Now if they test positive on Saturday, they certainly will get replaced.

India Tour of England (IND vs ENG): When asked if the BCCI is already lining up replacements, the official said, “It is the selectors’ job and there are always backup plans, especially now during Covid.”

“We can’t say anything with certainty at this stage. We have to observe them for next couple of days to decide – whether to announce new replacements or not,” another official had told InsideSport.co on Thursday.
