India tour of England: Bad news, Ollie Pope likely to miss opening Test against India due to injury- England opening batsman Ollie Pope is likely to miss the opening Test against India at Trent Bridge as he is unlikely to recover from his thigh injury that he sustained while playing in T20 Blast. As per a report from Dailymail, medics have advised him not to rush his return. He could return for the second fixture.
‘I’m not sure at the minute if I’ll be fit,’ Pope told Sportsmail.
‘From what I hear, there’s a slight risk involved. The thigh feels good, but there are a few more boxes to tick, and they may not make a decision on whether I play in that first Test until a couple of days before,’ he added.

The player had signed with Welsh Fire for The Hundred but is likely to sit out. He wants to establish his place in England’s middle order. He has been out of form in last 16 innings for England where he has failed to cross 34.
‘India was a tough tour for a lot of the players, then the two-match series against New Zealand went by very quickly. I had three innings and a not out, so it was a small sample size, but I felt I was playing well,’ he further stated.
