The All-India Selection Committee on Monday named India’s squads for the series against Australia, South Africa and the T20 World Cup. While Chahar made the cut for the home series against the two teams, he was relegated to the role of a ‘standby’ for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
The 30-year-old was a backup at the Asia Cup 2022 as well eventually replacing Avesh Khan for the final game. He gave a decent account of himself, but Bumrah and Harshal returned, there was no spot available for him in the team.
