It is at this juncture that the five-match series against West Indies in the shorter format could come handy for Hooda. It gives the selectors a good amount of matches to figure out his consistency and his approach. If the player scores big runs against West Indies, the call for his inclusion in the playing XI for all T20 matches for India will get louder.
Even after that if the management decides to pick Kohli ahead of Hooda in the playing XI for future matches, including the Asia Cup, the former India captain will be under further pressure.
