India Squad WI tour: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is likely to select squad for West Indies tour on June 27. Some of the senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, and Siraj are expected to be not part of the entire duration of the tour. While Rohit Sharma and Kohli are likely to play two Test matches, the duo won’t be likely part of the ODI and T20I. Siraj and Shami also won’t be playing the entire duration of the Caribbean tour due to workload management.

A lot of fringe players like Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Umran Malik, and Arshdeep Singh are expected to be part of the ODI, Test, and T20Is. Samson Umran will likely feature in the white-ball squad for India, while Jaiswal and Arshdeep are expected to be part of the Test Team.

India Squad WI Tour: Rohit to remain captain of Test team, Hardik Pandya likely to take white-ball captaincy

India will begin the Windies tour by playing two Test matches. Rohit Sharma in all likelihood will be captain of the Test team. But if the right-hand batter extends his holiday, then designated Test vice-captain Cheteshwar Pujara will lead. Speaking about the white-ball squads, Hardik Pandya is expected to lead India in ODI and T20Is. BCCI are also likely to discuss the Test future with Pandya.

“Hardik is definitely an option but it is Hardik himself who has to take the call on a Test return. Selectors are keen to see him back in whites. But is he in a position to play all three formats, especially considering he is an important player in ODIs? That is the call he has to take,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

India Squad WI Tour: What we know so far

· Despite some of the rumors of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma being rested for Test series , the duo are set to feature in India’s first WTC tour of 2023-25.

· A call on Cheteshwar Pujara will likely be taken after his poor form in the past 12 months.

· Shami and Siraj are set to be rested for the Test and ODI series respectively. Arshdeep Singh to get a Test call-up.

· Yashsvai Jaiswal also in contention to be selected in the longest format of the game.

· Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan are set to be wicketkeepers for ODI and T20I squads.

· Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh, Harshal Patel and Kuldeep Yadav to get a nod in T20Is.

· Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul will miss the WI tour due to injuries.
