The selectors asked Rohit Sharma to work on his fitness with a packed calendar in 2022. As he is set to be named the captain of the Test team ahead of the Sri Lanka series, selectors did not want to rush his return. But apart from working with NCA physios, Rohit Sharma worked with his personal trainer and lost around 6kgs weight during the month. Now, he is match-fit having passed the fitness test on Wednesday.
“The selection is obvious. Rohit is the captain of the white-ball teams and the next in line are yet to prove their worth as captains. As long as Rohit is fit and wants to continue playing all three formats, he will lead the side. We will have a discussion after WTC Final of the cycle and go about it,” a selection committee source told InsideSport.
